Everyone experiences stress, sadness, mood swings, and other types of emotional distress on occasion. Sometimes, however, negative feelings and other symptoms can interfere with your daily life, your relationships, or your work. Your loved ones may be concerned for you. Alternatively, you may be concerned about your loved one’s symptoms or behavior.
Here are some signs that a psychiatric evaluation can help you or your loved one:
First off, we commend you for taking the first step and seeking out care. Once you have scheduled an appointment, you will receive an online "packet" that includes a new patient questionnaire and any required documents. All of which can be done online at your convenience. Dr. Cox will review this information and will discuss it in your appointment. Initial visits usually last 60-90 minutes as Dr. Cox will ask about your medical history to help determine a diagnosis and treatment plan.
In your initial intake appointment, you and Dr. Cox will discuss a treatment plan. Most of our patients require 30 min follow up appointments every 4-6 weeks. For our patients who have an established medication regimen, we can extend the follow-ups to every 9-12 weeks. Of course, you always have the option to meet with Dr. Cox more frequently especially if psychotherapy will be an important piece in your treatment plan.
Dr. Cox is available for medication management or a combination of medication management and therapy. If Dr. Cox believes that medicine is not really a requirement at this time, he will help you identify a therapist or psychologist that you can work with on a more frequent basis and then if medication is every recommended you always have the option to seek care again with Dr. Cox. Some psychiatrists may offer their patients psychotherapy only, and although Dr. Cox is more than capable of providing this to his patients, it is usually more financially advantageous to receive therapy through a therapist or psychologist. Therapist and Psychologists are also more proficient in therapies as that is their focus of study.
At this time we are considered an "Out of Network" provider. What this means is that we require full payment upfront via card payment through our online payment system. If you plan on seeking reimbursement from your insurance provider, we can provide a detailed invoice called a superbill. This will include all of the information required by an insurance company, giving you a hassle free way of seeking reimbursement. We also can provide you with common "procedural codes" that are useful when contacting your insurance beforehand to see what the reimbursement amounts would be.
Appointment pricing can range from $385 for a new patient intake to $125 for a short medication management follow up. Please email us for a comprehensive break-down of our fees and services. If cost is an issue and is keeping you from receiving care, please let us know and we can discuss a sliding fee scale. The majority of our patients see Dr. Cox every 4-6 weeks for a 30 minute follow up.
Even though we do not accept insurance, one of the things that makes our practice stand out, is that we assist you in submitting a claim for out of network reimbursement. At the time of intake, we will ask for your insurance information so that we can include that information on the superbill. We can also fill out specific claim forms that you have and forward those on with the superbill to your insurance provider. The majority of our patients receive 40-60% reimbursement of our fees.
If you are a current or previous patient and would like to share your feedback for our clinic, we would really appreciate it!
